As Director of Special Events for NYC Council Member Laurie Cumbo, I planned a 7-part event series to address pressing topics in the 35th council district. The Community Exchange Series included workshops on affordable housing, applying for city council funding, and starting a nonprofit. It also included status updates on the controversial Bedford Union Armory development.
I sourced top city government officials as speakers, including City Land Use Director Raju Mann and Daniel Hernandez, Deputy Commissioner of NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development .

I utilized every available resource to promote the series, from getting published in local media outlets, to distributing physical flyers in community churches and schools. After each event, a detailed recap was posted and shared online.
Overcoming protests, complex schedules, and even snowstorms, the Community Exchange Series attracted hundreds of constituents and was instrumental in delivering important information while demonstrating the Council Member’s commitment to the community.
